Experience as a BOE Member

Over the last 3 years as a member of the Mount Olive Board of Education, I have contributed to and learned so much of the Mount Olive School District. From the moment I was first sworn in, I was eager and ready to use my past skills as an educator, legal background, and government contract experience for the best interest of Mount Olive School District. During this first term, I’ve had the honor of serving as the chair on the Policy and Governance, and have also served on the Curriculum & Technology Committee, and the Personnel Committee.

In addition to serving on Board of Education committees, I served in the Residency and Zero Tolerance Hearings, I am currently the liaison to the MOHS Parents Club, and was one of the negotiators for the Mount Olive Association of School Administrators (MOASA) new contract agreement working alongside Superintendent and MOASA representatives. I am a New Jersey School Boards Association (NJSBA) certified New Board Member.

Throughout my first term I've gained particularly valuable insight into State Testing, Academic Performance, Curriculum Strategy, Harassment-Intimidation and Bullying laws and regulations among others.

After serving on the Board, I’ve come to understand the real work a school board does—shaping policy, guiding academic priorities, listening to parents’ concerns, understanding teachers and school personnel’s needs, and supporting the entire school community. With this experience, I’m more prepared than ever to continue contributing meaningfully in my next term.

BOE Committees

  • I have been a member of the Policy and Governance Committee for the past three years, and the past two years I’ve led the committee as the Chair. This committee researches, analyzes, and recommends to the full board changes and updates of current policy, and the need for implementation of new policies. During my incumbency, one of the greatest achievements of this committee was going through and ensuring that all Mount Olive School District policies are up to date with the most current laws and regulations.

  • I served as a member of the Curriculum and Technology committee during my first year as a board of education member. This committee revises the implementation of new curriculum and latest technology, and staff recommended revisions of current curriculum and technology to ensure our students receive the best education for their success.

  • Last year, I had the opportunity to serve on the Personnel Committee. This committee is responsible for reviewing recommendations from administration to hire the most competitive and qualified personnel for our school district. One of the most notable and critical achievements from this committee while I was a member, was the creation of the position of a Human Resources Director for our school district.
