My name is Louisa

Meléndez-Cañedo.

I have lived in Mount Olive with my family for 24 years. Of those, 22 years have been in the Woodfield community. I would like to share some exciting news; I am announcing my candidacy for re-election to serve on the Mount Olive Board of Education in the upcoming elections on November 4th, 2025.

My husband and I have raised our three children in this community and they are a product of the Mount Olive School District. The MO School District, with its robust academic curriculum, sports programs, and extra - curriculars (Mount Olive Robotics Teams and Air Force JROTC) has, in my opinion, contributed greatly to my children’s success in all their endeavors. As a committed parent, I believed it was important to be involved in my children’s activities while they were in school including the MOHS Air Force JROTC Parent’s Association, as well as the MO Robotics Parents Association. These two programs still have a very special place in my heart.

I have a strong belief in giving back to the great community that we live in. Throughout the years, I have volunteered in different forms and clubs, some include volunteering at the local Food Pantries, St Jude Church, and the Mt Olive Soccer Club. My belief is that you give when and where you can. I have also served on the Board of Directors of the Colonial Musketeer Junior Fife and Drum Corps in Hackettstown and in the National Contract Management Association in various capacities including President of the Picatinny Chapter.

I am highly motivated to keep giving back to the School District that has given so much to my family. Being an educator for 11 years with a family background in education for generations, I feel very strongly as a teacher, mother, grandmother, aunt, and a member of this community to do more. I want to use my talents and educational/law skill set for the good and success of our students, parents, and administration. For that reason, I ask for your support in these upcoming elections in November 4th , please support my candidacy to represent your most important interest at heart, Your Child.

I would like to have an open forum for exchange of ideas, concerns, and suggestions that could improve our schools and community. Let’s continue making our Mount Olive School District one of the best in the county, state, and national level.
